Letter from the Department

The spring semester is drawing to a close and we want to make sure you have your check-out, contract, and summer housing plans in place! If you are not required to live on campus but have signed an on-campus housing contract for Fall 14, keep in mind that you must cancel your contract by June 1st if your living arrangements change and you wish to be refunded your $100 housing deposit. If you wish to continue to live on campus over the summer, be sure you have completed the appropriate summer contract so that your summer assignment can be made. To live on campus for the summer, you must be enrolled in summer classes. If you have questions regarding your Student Housing Contract or any other matter, please allow the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services to help you. Best wishes for the remainder of the semester and with final exams! Sincerely, Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services

Update your permanent address by submitting this completed form to the Office of the Registrar. 2014-15 Exception to University Housing Policy

Students who would like to live off campus but have fewer than 30 successfully completed credit hours will need to go through the exception process. You must meet the exception criteria in order to receive an approved request to live off campus, and approval is not guaranteed. The exception process may take several weeks depending on your situation, so be prepared and contact our office as soon as possible. DO NOT commit yourself to an off-campus housing lease until your current housing obligations are resolved. Please visit our exception page for more information on different types of exceptions. Select the appropriate form or process and attach all required documentation. With questions, please call 417-836-5536.

2014-15 Room Changes / Assignment Information

On-campus students who would like to change their room for the Fall 2014 semester may do so online at My Missouri State. Click the Room Change Request link found under the Housing channel. To view your 2014-15 assignment and roommate information, click the Roommate Summary link. Please Note:  Assignment information is subject to change if roommates and/or suitemates cancel their contract or change rooms.

Special Housing Requests

Intersession May 19 – June 6

Students who are taking intersession-only courses (but not summer school) and want to live on campus should contact the Residence Life office as soon as possible. Limited intersession housing is available on campus on a first-come/first-served basis. All intersession housing is located in Hammons. House. The charge will be placed on your Missouri State University account. Boomer meals can be used starting May 19th and the dining meal plans start June 9th. To reserve your intersession space, please call 417-836-5536. Students planning to move directly into intersession housing after the residence halls close may do so only from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, May 17. Your RA will make special accommodations for your later check-out process.

Summer School

Students who would like to live on campus during summer school should complete a Summer Housing Contract online under the Housing Channel in their My Missouri State account. Summer housing will be located in Hammons House, and you must be enrolled in a summer class in order to live on campus during this time. Housing is also available before and after the summer school session for those students needing campus housing during those “special request” times. Please refer to the Summer Housing Contract for details.  Summer school rates can be found on our Summer Rates page.

Checklist for Checking Out

Once your finals are over, you will need to make a proper check-out from your residence hall. We want your check-out experience to go as smoothly as possible to avoid unnecessary charges and delays. With this in mind, we ask you to leave your room/suite/apartment reasonably clean, free of damage, and in proper order. To assist you, we have provided a checklist which shows you the specific items your RA will be assessing while checking you out of your room. Students who do not check out properly could be charged an Improper Check-Out Fee of $75.00.

Contract Cancellation

If you have submitted a 2014-2015 Student Housing Contract but would like to cancel it, and you are not required to live on campus for the 2014-2015 academic year, you will need to submit a cancellation request at our contract cancellation page by 11:59 p.m. June 1 in order to receive a refund of your deposit. If written cancellation is received after June 1, your housing deposit will be forfeited. Cancellation requests must be received before the Student Housing Contract goes into effect on August 15, 2014. As of August 15, 2014, the contract becomes active and binding regardless of a lack of requirement to live on campus.
